HOUSE CHURCHES
We are formed in community.
We are working towards creating a church of house churches. One church with multiple expressions throughout the area. These communities will meet separately throughout the week and come together on sundays to celeberate Jesus and all that He is doing.
House Churches are the heart of our Church. They create a space for people to intentionally grow spiritually, share their lives with others, and go on mission together. They are the main vehicle that helps us accomplish our mission of helping people be formed by Jesus, in community, and for mission.
These Communities will typically meet weekly, eat a meal, open the bible, fellowship, and learn how to follow Jesus while serving together. They will seek to be multi-generational and geographically based. House Churches are where we can truly experience what it means to be called together as a family in Jesus.
Our dream is to have a house church in every area of Tampa Bay.
“A church of house churches”
Decentralized & Diverse
Creating a church of house churches allows the church to be decentralized from one location and one primary event.
As we establish house churches in various geographical locations it allows the church to be diverse generationally, culturally, ethnically, economically, and in spiritual maturity, all while seeking to live as a family on mission together.
Then, bringing all these communities together for a Weekley corporate gathering allows us to experience worshipping God as a larger family, and keeps us connected under one mission and vision.
Shared Leadership
Our vision is to have shared and distributed leadership amongst various house churches, yet all being unified and having accountability under one Elder Board that has the same mission and vision. We want to equip and empower pastors beyond just having a few staff members. Pastors should be able to know and be known by the people of the church and the community.
Each House Church will be led by a qualified, trained, accountable pastor from Formation Church who oversees the teaching, leadership, and care of each individual in their House Church.

A church is not a place, it’s a people
ACTS 2:46,47
Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
House Church F.A.Q
When and where?
Where: Typically in someone’s home but this is not a hard and fast rule. House churches by their very nature have the flexibility to meet in a wide array of locations.
House Church Definition?
House churches are just that— a little church that meets in a house. They are multi-generational communities with a focus on community, discipleship, and mission, and have all the elements of a church. They prioritize prayer, seek multiplication, meet each other’s needs, and welcome new people. They allow our collective church to live out of our identity as a family of missionaries in the everyday stuff of life, and help us accomplish our mission of helping people be formed by Jesus, in community, and for mission.
What is the difference between a "small group" and a "house church"?
A house church is a little church that is led by a pastor. It is diverse and does not have any homogenous limitations to it. Just like any other church, a house church practices the ordinances found in the Scriptures, focuses on discipleship, and prioritizes the spread of the Gospel. A house church is a community that goes beyond just being friends; it builds relationships that feel like family. It contains more functions of the overall church than a traditional small group or class.
A group or a class is usually classified around a certian teaching, training, time period, or affinity. Groups can have elements of the church but usually have intended limitations.
